In Harry Potter colours! Was just a quick fix, pattern here. They did turn out very large, however, there was no hook size given and I only had a 5mm with me, so I added a strap and adjusted the pattern a bit. I might make another smaller pair, but they will do for now, anyway! Just made with some scraps of acrylic and wool I had lying around.
Do you think I my feet look like Gulliver’s feet?
Hmm, maybe I should rename this blog the sock blog. Just thought I’d post a little pic of another ‘sock rescue’ I did for Christmas.
The centre flower was a purple sock made into a fabric yo-yo. And then there is a layer of scrap lace, a layer of fabric I had left over from a ‘trouser rescue’, then scrap felt and finally more lace. This one is a brooch I made for my housemate. but I liked it so much I think I might have to make myself one!
Frilly jumper update: I have started the sleeve shaping! It’s a jumper that is knit in one piece, from the back up to the sleeves and then back down to the bottom of the front. More pics in the next few days!
Artichoke Socks on the needles at the moment:
I think they’re turning out quite nicely. The yarn is Wendy Happy, I’m hoping this time that they won’t grow as much as the last ones I did in that yarn, the patterns seems to be a bit tighter so we will have to see.
Unfortunately, since I took these photos my knitting needle has snapped, so these are going to be on the back burner until I can sort it out! I’m hoping it can be a repair job with superglue and I won’t have to buy a new needle as these ones aren’t the cheapest. However, they are brilliant needles, they’re Knit-Pros and there is no snagging over the join so I would fork out for another set if I had to! I think these are the 2.25mm ones, but I also have a 2.5mm set for socks. Oh well, wish me luck!
Here is a picture of some socks I made out of Wendy Happy, a 4-ply yarn made of bamboo. They are very soft, warm and comfortable, however they seem to grow quite a lot as I wear them. I think I may have to sew some very thin elastic into them; has anybody else had this problem? I am working on some lacy ones in the same yarn so will update on this when they are finished.
